HISTORY AND BACKGROUND
Gemiluth Chessed was founded in the early 1950’s by a forward looking group of dedicated individuals from Washington Heights, who were motivated to develop a community based social support system and residence for an aging, local population.
The funds needed to construct a modern, state-of-the-art assisted living center for these seniors were raised over a number of years from generous donors.
At last a beautiful edifice was constructed on twenty bucolic acres of landscaped greenery in scenic Palisades, NY. For more than thirty years, more than 150 vibrant residents enjoyed the up-to-date facilities with full service as well as a program of stimulating lectures, concerts and field trips.
Gemiluth Chessed is proud to continue this noble tradition of its founders, enabling the elderly to enjoy health, recreation, intellectual stimulation in an atmosphere of community spirit.
